Green and Maroon - The Color of Festivity

Strange but pleasant! At least to us..the ardent fans of the country's most popular club - Mohun Bagan. Now, what is strange? The very fact that MB, even in its very worse times, never disheartens its supporters before any major festival. Be it Bengal's and world's one of the greatest spectacles, Durga Pujo, Christmas or even new year.

Our team always manages to curve a smile in the face of its fans by lifting trophies before the festivals or at least defeat its arch rivals. Yes, the National Club always do that. Just for example, you can see that the club has won the Calcutta Prmiere leaugue once again in this pre-festival season. How can we forget, how the club lifted the Federation cup in 2006, when the new year was knocking the hardest at the door? How can we ignore, MB with one of its worst times in the new millenium, managed to defeat EB and lifted the IFA Shield in 2004? and its was just before the Pujo once again. We will not forget, how we defeated Churchill in their den and won the national league on Bengali New Year.

Coincidence or not, MB and happy times go hand in hand. Its a glaring indication of the sanctity of our club, the ability to enhance joyous moments...and we love the Green and Maroon more......

Mohun Bagan - The True Champions

Mohun Bagan, the club that has endured 119 years of adversity, enmity and failed attempts to demerit the club, proved once again, why it is still the most succesful club of India. Despite, a joint effort of the East Bengal and Mohemmedan officials and supporters to create false pressure on IFA and the referees association to bring down MB from the league ladder, the oldest club of Asia, once again clinched the Calcutta Premiere Divison League.

The eventual match was played against the arch rivals EB, who were already out of contention but left no stones unturned (on and off the field) to sour MB's succes story. However, the magician, the demi god of Green and Maroon fans - Jose Barreto and his young brigade ensured that MB becomes the champion(the match ended 1-1, MB needed just a point to become the winner.

Master minded by a section of the media ( to be precise, Anilava Chattopdhay of the programme Khel at Eleven), EB and MDS raised huge uproar, that MB is enjoying refereeing advantages. How, contradactory! its MB who has suffered time and again at the hands of dubious refereeing decisions, and very much in this leaugue too.

But as said, the 'truth prevailed', Kareem and his players fought against all odds and made the millions of the MB fans around the world, proud of their club. Yers, Once more! Viva Mohun Bagan!
